The London Mithraeum is a Roman ruin which was discovered by chance in Walbrook, in the City of London, during building construction in 1954. The Mithraeum is believed to have been built in the 3rd century AD and dedicated to Mithras, later rededicated to Bacchus. It was moved temporarily to a new site but the finished work drew a lot of criticism.
Zoom forward to 2010 when Bloomberg decided to build their new European HQ in Walbrook Square. They decided to relocate the Mithraeum (using the original stones and bricks) and site it under their new building, making it available to the public.
